Update ID and civil record information for non-Bahraini

  • For dependents: Relationship data must be registered by providing and authenticating original documents (marriage certificate/birth certificate) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • A valid passport for updating the ID card chip.
  • A valid ID card for updating the ID card chip.
  • A correct residential address for updating the ID card chip.
  • A valid residency permit as per Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs
  • The applicant must be present within the Kingdom of Bahrain for updating the ID card chip
  • Documents issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • For those registered with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority: It is required to complete all procedures and requirements and update the data in advance with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority system.
  • Residents related to diplomatic entities: must provide application number that issuance from ministry of foreign affairs of Bahrain
  • For the wife of a Bahraini citizen or the husband of a Bahraini citizen (non-GCC national): Present the original marriage contract, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, if issued outside Bahrain.
  • In the case of parental divorce, a custody continuity certificate (from the Court of Execution) issued within the last six months is required for children under 21 to confirm their address according to the guardian’s residence. If the certificate is unavailable, parents may sign a custody agreement declaration.
  • The information available on the ID card chip can be updated by scheduling an appointment to vist one of the service centers or by the self-service kiosks.

General requirements for the residential address

  • The residential address with active electricity cannot be changed from owned property to a rented address unless there is proof of rental, sale, or an issued building or renovation permit from the municipality
  • Renting a residential address, the electricity account must be activated under the tenant or providing an address certificate issued by the municipality if the lease agreement mentioned that electricity account under landlord, ensuring that the landlord is not registered at the same address in the ID and population registry system
  • If an individual does not have a residential address and wishes to update their address to one of their relatives, a non-objection accommodation declaration must be signed by the owner of the address according to specific requirements
  • If an individual does not have a residential address the guarantee entity can provide a residential address for the applicant.
  • The property classification must be residential, and the electricity and water account must be active in all cases.
  • Individual who has an active electricity and water account for a residential address must update his address with family members to the address that has the same account number.
  • For the investor: The residential address must be in his name or belong to first-level relative, or to his partner in the CR, provided that the marital status matches.



Issue, renew, or replace a lost or damaged Identity Card for GCC Residents

  • Proof of residency in the Kingdom of Bahrain is required.
  • The applicant must be an investor in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • The female applicant must be married to a Bahraini.
  • The male applicant must be married to a Bahraini wife, or is a father to her children.
  • The applicant must be employed or is studying in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • The applicant must own a house or property in the Kingdom of Bahrain.



ID Card Declaration Forms

  • A declaration of accommodation form: used for the approving of the address owner to use his residential address for a family member or relative.
  • Declaration of Transferring Head of Household Relationship form: Used for the husband's consent to register his wife as the head of the household.
  • Declaration of Custody Agreement Between the Two Parties: It is used for the signatures of both parties (the divorced parents) for children under 21 years old, to registering the second party mentioned in this agreement as a head of family for the child, and to add the child's residence address with the second party.
  • Declaration of accommodation transfer: used for choosing residential address in specific cases for example (children from 21 years and above have divorced parents).



ID card issuance for non-Bahrainis registered with LMRA

  • For dependents: Relationship data must be registered by providing and authenticating original documents (marriage contract/birth certificate) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • Dependents aged 10+ without registered biometric data (fingerprints and signature) must schedule an appointment and visit the service center.
  • A valid passport.
  • A valid residency permit as per Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs.
  • It is required to complete all procedures and requirements and update the data with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority in advance.
  • The applicant must be present within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • A correct residential address.
  • Recent personal photo according to the requirements.
  • A person can be authorized to apply the request through E-authorization or authorization issued by the Ministry of Justice.

For workers and investors

  • Only the guarantor or clearance can attend front offices through booking appointment in advance.
  • The fingerprint and signature must take it at the Labor Market Regulatory Authority.
  • First-time issuance: must be through appointment by guarantor or clearance or through urgent service office.
  • First-time issuance: the photo in the system will be used.
  • Request for replacement a lost/damaged ID card through the E-services: the photo in the system will be used.
  • Workers and investors can apply their requests in person through urgent service office in service centers without appointment or through E-services.

Identity Card Photo Requirements

  • The photo must be colored with a white background.
  • The photo must be recent and not more than six months old.
  • The photo must capture the head and the top of the shoulders up close, with the face occupying 70% to 80% of the image.
  • The photo must be printed if applying the request through service canters.
  • The photo must be as a digital copy with specific stander if applying the request through E-services.



Issuing an ID card for non-Bahrainis not registered with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority

  • The application can be apply through E-services or by scheduling an appointment in advance at one of the ID card service centers, or through urgent offices without a prior appointment.
  • An original valid passport.
  • The applicant must be present within the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • To issue an ID number for the first time, present the entry visa issued by Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs
  • A valid residency for renewing and issuing a replacement for a lost/damaged identity card.
  • A recent personal photo that meets the specified requirements.
  • A correct residential address that meets the requirements
  • For embassy workers and their dependents: A request number from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required.
  • Individuals aged 10 and above with no registered biometric data in the civil record system, must schedule an appointment and attend front offices or through urgent service office.
  • For the wife of a Bahraini citizen or the husband of a Bahraini citizen (non-GCC national): Present the original marriage contract, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, if issued outside Bahrain.
  • For dependents visa: Relationship data must be registered by providing and authenticating original documents (marriage certificate/birth certificate) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain

  • The special needs logo will be added to the ID card for individuals registered in the Ministry of Social Development's system.

  • Individuals aged 10 years and older who do not have registered biometric data (fingerprint and Signature) in the population registry system must take an appointment and appear in person. (Individuals aged 70 years or older & special needs are exempt)
  • In the case of parental divorce, a custody certificate issued within six months is needed for children under 21 to confirm the children’s address. If the certificate is unavailable (from the Court of Execution), parents can sign a custody agreement declaration.

  • In the case of owning a housing unit provided by the Ministry of Housing, the property ownership must be registered in the addresses department. If the unit is transferred/withdrawn, a clearance certificate issued by the legal affairs of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning must be provided
  • The residential address cannot be changed from owned property to a rented address unless there is proof of rental, sale, or an issued building or renovation permit from the municipality
  • Renting a residential address, the electricity account must be activated under the tenant or providing an address certificate issued by the municipality if the lease agreement mentioned that electricity account under landlord, ensuring that the landlord is not registered at the same address in the ID and population registry system
  • If an individual does not have a residential address and want to update his address to one of his relatives, a non-objection accommodation declaration must be signed by the owner of the address according to specific requirements

ID Card Renewal

Customer prerequisites

  • Customer must be registered in the population registry system (general secretariat)
  • Customer must be owner of the commercial register, even if he is not Bahraini
  • Customer is not suspended from carrying out the task of clearing the identity card
  • Book an appointment through the electronic appointment system
  • Customer must be registered in the population registry system under the same unit number or commercial registry of the worker (special clearance)
  • Customer should be Bahraini and listed under the same unit number or commercial register of the worker

Prerequisites for the worker

  • Worker must be non-Bahraini
  • Worker must be registered in Labor Market Regulatory Authority system
  • Worker must be listed under same unit number or commercial register of the (customer) in the case of the private agent only
  • Worker must be present in Bahrain
  • Worker have a personal number
  • Worker have a valid residence permit as per the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Regulations

Domestic Workers

  • To have a personal number
  • To be in Bahrain
  • That the person belongs to the category of domestic workers
  • Valid residence as in the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Regulations
  • must be registered in Labor Market Regulatory Authority system

Replace Lost / Damaged ID Card

  • In the case of the presence of a general representative or relative, it is necessary to present the original and valid passport of the personal number holder
  • While using the eService, If some specific requirements are not met, a message will be displayed with the required document to be attached within the application.

If some specific requirements are not met when entering the e-service, a message will be displayed stating the required document to be attached to the application. Among these documents are the following:

  • Residence declaration
  • copy of the identity card of the property owner (front and back)
  • marriage contract legally recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its equivalent from the Ministry of Justice for non-Bahrainis
  • copy of the husband’ ID card (front and back)
  • copy of the wife’s ID card (front and back)
  • birth certificate
  • attaching legal custody or custody agreement

Bahrainis

  • Bahraini person holder of personal number
  • ID card should not be expired
  • Holds a valid Bahraini passport
  • In the event that a family member travels, the father or mother must attend to submit a request to issue a replacement for a lost/damaged identity card
  • In the event of the presence of a general broker or one of the acquaintances, it is required to have an authorization letter from the applicant with the presentation of the original valid passport of the owner of the personal number

Non-Bahrainis registered with the Labor Market Regulatory Authority

  • Customer prerequisites

  • Customer should be Bahraini and listed under the same unit number or commercial register of the worker

Update ID and civil record information for citizens

  • For children under 21 years old from divorced parents, a custody certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice must be provided, which should not exceed six months from the date of issuance, or the custody agreement form between the parties available from the Civil Status and Identity Administration can be filled out.

Requirements for updating education

  • Graduation certificate if the educational institution is within the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • Certificates issued from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain; the authenticity of the certificate must be verified through specialized companies that are recommended by the Ministry of Education

  • Public sector employees registered with the Civil Service Commission must register through the General Social Insurance Authority
  • Private sector employees must register work details with SIO
  • Employees in the public sector not related with the civil service should check with their employeer for the registration process.

  • Marriage\divorce information is recorded in the system automatically by the Ministry of Justice if both parties have personal numbers.
  • If one of the parties does not have a personal number, a marriage\divorce certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice must be provided.
  • If the marriage certificate is issued from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, a certified marriage contract from the Ministry of Justice must be submitted.
  • If the divorce contract was issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, a certificate of divorce verification must be issued by the Ministry of Justice
  • If the divorce contract was issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, a certificate of divorce verification must be issued by the Ministry of Justice.

Updating widowhood information
